From Delaney:
Favorite Field Hockey memory? Why?
My favorite field hockey memory was going to the National Club Challenge last year. The invitation for our team to go was a surprise so we were all really excited. We had a great tournament and made it all the way to the finals and ultimately came in second place. It was an amazing experience.
What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
On my official recruiting visit to Rhodes, I had a blast. On the morning of the game, the captains and all the players started pregame with a breakfast together where there was lots of music, dancing, and enthusiasm. The whole scene made me feel included and made me want to go out and play the game with them!
Why are you playing field hockey in college?
I am playing field hockey in college because it is something that I love to do and I have dedicated so much time over the past 8 years to it. I love the camaraderie of a team, the dedication that playing a sport takes, and the feeling of accomplishment every day after a good practice or game.
What have you done this summer to prepare?
WORKOUT!!! My new coach at Rhodes sent me a workout packet that includes lifting, conditioning, and stick work. That along with Texas Pride keeps me busy.
If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
My number one piece of advice is to join Texas Pride because Tina has done an awesome job of building a great program that prepares everybody to be their best.
Who was the most influential person in high school?
Of course, it is Tina! Tina is the person who told me that I had the potential to play field hockey in college and she worked with me along the way so that I could be my best.
Favorite post game/practice snack?
Welche’s Fruit Snacks
What pregame rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
I listen to loud music and visualize the game and the opponent in my head.
What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
My love for the sport and not being able to imagine not playing field hockey anymore drove me to pursue college field hockey
What was one of the toughest experiences?
My toughest obstacle was gaining the confidence to speak up. I was less involved with Texas Pride in my early years so I did not have the same connection and confidence that many of the other girls had.
Year you began playing field hockey? How?
I began playing at SFEDS in 5th grade because my good friend Emma Cate Graham convinced me to! I had never picked up a stick before.
